For many years families have resorted to home remedies to relieve from a common cold to a sharp pain caused by arthritis. Even today, when doctors and scientists have cures for virtually every disease, home remedies remain as popular as ever.
Perhaps because they are easy to make or because they are much cheaper than prescription medicines and other drugs, the fact is that we can use them for almost anything, even as beauty treatments. For example, milk, persimmons, damiana tea, and papaya delay the aging process. Aloe vera, rosemary, and basil are great for fighting hair loss. Flaxseed and pineapple help lose weight in addition to bringing many other health benefits.
Even to clean your home, there are several commonly used ingredients that might work. For example, baking soda dissolved in a liter of warm water is a very effective cleaner. A mixture of lemon juice and borax will leave the toilet sparkling clean and germ-free. To clean the oven just sprinkle it with enough water while it is still hot and add salt. To remove the marks left by furniture on the carpet, leave a few ice cubes melting on the mark or put a hot steaming iron above the mark for a few minutes (make sure the iron does not touch the carpet).
On this website you will find many home remedies recipes for various conditions. The remedies presented here come from books and also from my family and friends. Some of them I have tried myself. To see which remedies I have used, please visit my blog. Always check with your doctor first before starting any diet or trying out any home remedy. If you have symptoms such as dizziness, unusual pain, bleeding, etc. and you do not know what is causing it, consult a doctor to make sure you do not have a more serious condition. The home remedies given on this site by no means should replace the advice of a health professional.
Extra precautions should be taken if:
- You are pregnant. Always be very cautious when taking any medicine or herbs as many of them could be harmful to the baby.
- You are allergic to any medicine or food. Always pay close attention to the ingredients used in the remedy. For example, if you are allergic to peanuts, peanut oil used to soothe skin could cause a reaction.
- If you are going to treat a child or baby, it is best to consult a physician first. Children are very delicate, and many home remedies are not recommended for them. home-remedies-site.com
- If you are taking medication prescribed by your doctor, make sure it will not interfere with the homemade remedy. The same applies if you are taking any herb or supplement, make sure you tell the doctor about it before you start taking any new medication.
- Always use common sense and trust your instincts. If you are having second thoughts or do not feel comfortable about any medication or remedy, do not use it.
I have tried to include recipes that are easy to make with known ingredients that are fairly easy to obtain. But some recipes do require ingredients somewhat unknown or rare. However, they are available in naturalist stores. My advice would be to write down the names and dedicate one day to shop around in naturalist stores. That way you will become familiar with the recipes, and it will be easier to implement them regularly.
